Opec and US predict stronger oil demand


World oil demand will rise slightly more than expected in 2014, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) said, becoming the second major forecaster to predict higher fuel use as economic growth picks up in Europe and the US.

PetroChina, Asia’s largest oil and gas producer, has found 308.2 billion cubic metres of technically recoverable gas in southwest China’s Sichuan basin, according to parent CNPC, one of China’s largest gas discoveries in more than a decade.

Total renews oil licence in W Sahara

Total has renewed its licence to explore off the coast of disputed Western Sahara, where its oil hunt has angered independence activists and pushed a Norwegian investor to withdraw its money from the French energy company.
